Redlands Academy of Dramatic Art was founded by Kate Chadwick, a professional actor and musical theatre writer trained at NYU Tisch, The Oxford School of Drama, and UC Irvine, with writing and performance credits including Barrington Stage, 54 Below, and The York Theatre. After years of teaching and performing on both coasts, Kate returned to Southern California wanting to bring that same level of professional training home to her own children and to the young performers of Redlands.
This fall, RADA launches its founding session with three classes: Singing for Musical Theatre, Movement for Musical Theatre, and Acting for Musical Theatre. Together, these courses offer a complete foundation for any performer ready to grow their craft in a rigorous, welcoming studio. And this is only the beginning: RADA’s vision is to grow into a full theatre school for creators of all ages, with classes in scene study, audition prep, playwriting, lyric writing, musical theatre composition, theatre movement for neurodivergent performers, and more. All this will culminate in two full productions each year (hopefully including an original work created by the students).
